We went with our 2 kids (8&5) and we all had a fun time. The boat was comfortable and the duration was just right. We saw a lot of seals and enjoyed the scenery.
I took a friend a few years back on her birthday. The day we had booked, the harbor was socked in with fog, and the visibility was awful. We were on the second cruise of the day. I was sure they would cancel, but they took the boat out anyway. We took a slow cruise over to Monomoy, saw absolutely nothing in the deep fog, and spent a short time around Monomoy looking for seals (seals in Chatham are NOT hard to find). We then turned around and headed back at high speed in the chop and fog. It was a totally miserable trip. They must have known after the first tour of the day how bad the fog was and what a bad experience it would be for their customers, but they went out anyway. The guy then had the audacity to solicit tips on the way back. The customers on the boat were very unhappy; most tipped nothing and a few people loudly clanked coins into the tip bucket. There was absolutely no consideration of customer experience on this tour, they were simply cranking us through their schedule. The tour should have been canceled with apologies and the option to reschedule. It's unfortunate, because I have rental properties and folks are always asking about boat cruises. I steer everyone away from this one; I don't want my guests having the same experience I did.
It was fun. We went at low tide and didn't get very close to the island. I was hoping to see the lighthouse. My suggestion would be to check the tide chart and book at high tide. Kids had fun and the man and woman on the boat were very nice. The woman we booked with...not so much.
Captain was really good. Informative and knowledgeable. Saw a ton of seals. Made sure everyone on the boat was comfortable and had views.
I will go every year from now on and bring the family. A great way to spend a summer afternoon. These characters will warm your heart and bring a smile to your face. The boat is comfortable and allows you to get real close. The crew was friendly and very informative.
